As someone who has to commute everywhere walking or by bus, I appreciate the vast array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment available in one wide swath, but equally important is the infrastructure for people traveling on foot - or wheelchairs. The bus stops are not always in well-lit or sheltered locations, and sidewalks are sparse. I'm also not sure if there's any real security, so I don't go to the movies alone after dark because I'm concerned about safety, waiting in the dark on a patch of grass for a bus to show up. Altogether great if you have a car, but difficult for public transit users. Repositioning some of the bus stops to be in more public locations would be a great idea.
