Stephana Mills

I came here for a root canal, and left in more pain than I came in with, and an added dose of anxiety. Dr. Vohra was in a rush, and did not take the proper time to assess my root canal. He continued to inject novacane into my tooth and gums. When he started drilling I raised my left hand to let him know I was in pain (the agreed upon signal prior to beginning the procedure). He stopped and injected more novacane and immediately began to drill again. I lifted my hand again to let him know I could feel it and to stop. He did not stop. He did not inform me that despite 6 separate injections of novacane he needed to take the crown off despite the excruciating pain in order to put the novacane directly in my nerves. He went ahead and continued drilling despite my protest and my left hand raised. He and the nurse tried to hold me still and eventually with much pain and protest, ripped my crown off and put novacane directly on the nerves. I was crying, shaking, and sobbing uncontrollably. He didnt ask if I was ok or stop for a second to give me a break after realizing the pain he has inflicted. At the end of the root canal he said “ I’m sorry I had to hurt you to get it done.” I wish he would have asked my permission before he proceeded with his plan. It would have been nice to at least mentally prepare myself or opt out of the worst dental experience of my life. I felt trapped, and my response as soon as he was finished was to get away as quickly as possible. I should have followed my instinct and left in the beginning. At one point before the drilling he came to give me more novacane but the assistant wasn’t there to provide suction. Dr. Vohra suctioned for about 1 second and I told him there was still some left and his response was “ nope sorry” as he fled the room to assess another patient. Because he had injected me with so much novacane, my jaw was very heavy and tired. He told me I needed to keep my jaw open, and showed absolutely no sympathy. He even began to shake his head at me because I was having such a difficult time during the procedure. I have never been so poorly treated by a medical professional in my life. He was so rough with me that the lasting pain later was intolerable. I have a 7month old that I could not properly take care of as a result of the botched procedure performed. I will not be returning here for any future endodontic work.
